Activities in and around Grünau Chalets
The south of Namibia is generally dry with wide open spaces, straight, long roads and spectacular sunsets.
Grünau is an ideal base station from which to explore, or a perfect overnight facility on your way to the Fish River Canyon or the Sossusvlei dunes.
Day trip
Fish River Canyon & ǀAi-ǀAis
Africa's largest canyon lies a comfortable drive from Grünau. Watch the sunrise from the main viewpoint at Hobas, then soak in the hot springs at ǀAi-ǀAis before heading back for a braai at your chalet.

En route to Windhoek
Quiver Tree Forest & Giant's Playground
The Quiver Tree Forest and Giant's Playground are situated en route to Windhoek, just past Keetmanshoop, and are well worth a visit.
History
Gibeon War Graves
Stop over at the Gibeon War Graves a few kilometres further north of Keetmanshoop. The British Station Cemetery contains a plot with the graves of 33 Commonwealth (South African) soldiers who fell in the Battle of Gibeon (27 April 1915).
Further afield
Sossusvlei & the open road
Long, straight gravel roads, springbok on the plains and the red dunes of Sossusvlei to the north-west. Fill up at the Shell next door and set off early.
